Q How can I get a copy of a report and what does it cost? A Copies of reports are 15 cents per page single sided and 20 cents per page double sided. Copies of traffic crash reports are free for victims and $25.00 for traffic homicide reports. Among the other services and fees are: $5.00 for background checks (local only, I.D. required) and $5.00 for fingerprinting; except for juveniles—they are free.

Q I was a victim of a crime. How do I determine the latest status of my case? A Call our Headquarters Monday thru Friday (except weekends and holidays) and reference by you case number. The officer that worked your case will be in touch with you, or an investigator, if one has been assigned.
Q How do I report suspicious activity in my neighborhood? A We depend on citizens calling to report crimes or suspicious activity. If it’s an emergency, dial 911. For non-emergencies, call (850) 892-8511. The dispatcher who takes your call will ask questions about the activity to determine it’s nature and ask for descriptions of the people involved. You might be asked if an officer or investigator can contact you, but you may refuse.
Q Who actually operates Crime Stoppers of Walton County? A Crime Stoppers of Walton County, Inc. is independent of any law enforcement agency. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors and members. Funding originates from various sources such as: donations, fundraisers and the Attorney General’s Office. However, the DeFuniak Springs Police is actively involved with the organization and sometimes provides needed resources to aid the organization in achieving its objectives. |
