On April 14th, 2009 Mark A. Weeks was elected as the new DeFuniak Springs City Marshal. He began his employment with the DeFuniak Springs Police as the Assistant City Marshal in January 2006. In January 2009 he was appointed by the City Manager as the Acting Supervisor. Before coming to the DeFuniak Springs Police he worked with the (FHP) Florida Highway Patrol.
Education: Marshal Weeks graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, and from the University of Central Florida obtaining a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
Weeks is a third generation native to our local area with deep roots in and around the City of DeFuniak Springs. He says, "I'm delighted to serve back home." |

Meet the Marshal |
|
Captain Gandy has more than 43 years of management and leadership experience and a combined law enforcement background that spans 3 decades at the Federal, County and Municipal level. He is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Studies and has completed several graduate courses.
Prior to his employment with this agency he served in the US Army and retired after 25 years at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He then became a Deputy Sheriff with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and was later promoted to the rank of Captain and designation as the Commander of the Southern District of that County.
Since employment with this agency he has served in every position from Patrol Officer to his current position as the Deputy Chief. In addition to his many other law enforcement and administrative duties he also serves an instructor for the agency and is actively involved in all agency training. |
