Calls for Service

Many citizens do not always realize just what types of services the officers of the DeFuniak Springs Police offer to the citizens. As you can tell from the list above not all calls officers go to deal with crimes that have been committed. Another fact that is not always looked at is that we do not only offer these services to the citizens of DeFuniak Springs but also to the thousands that pass thru on their way to the beautiful beaches of Walton County. As the need for assistance arises the men and women of the DeFuniak Springs Police have to respond to these guests as well. As the population grows so does the need for a greater workforce. Over the past few years the workforce at the DeFuniak Springs Police Department has grown substantially, but the population of citizens and visitors to the area continues to surpass the growth of the department. Nevertheless, the continued services offered by our agency will not end. The DeFuniak Springs Police is here for you when you need help.

The DeFuniak Springs Police serves the public by not only responding to emergencies but also by responding to no-emergency calls as well. Whether emergency or no-emergency we refer to these instances as “calls for service”. We serve the community in various aspects which sometimes do not always deal with the criminal element. When a citizen calls the Office of the City Marshall and request an officer to come to them a call for service is entered into a C.A.D. or Computer Aided Dispatch. Once the call has been inputted into the computer program an officer is dispatched to the scene.
