Please join us on April 11th, 2009 for our 3rd Annual “Caring for Kids Day”. This event is designed to raise safety awareness in the lives of the children, and families that we protect. The DeFuniak Springs Police along with many other concerned agencies will be onsite to discuss various safety issues, provide simple solutions, and to offer different types of information, and resources. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be prepared by Liberty’s Volunteer Fire Department on their enormous fire engine grill. Drinks will be provided by Buffalo Rock Pepsi. As always this event is entirely free. We hope that you and your families will come out and enjoy this fun and important safety event. |

EOC will have an Ambulance and an EMT who will talk about their duties and answer questions. The kids will be able to get inside the Ambulance to learn about what's inside and EOC will also have the Smoke Trailer in which the kids will see what it looks like when rooms are full of smoke and they will learn what to do if there is a fire in the home.
FHP will be joining us this year with their vehicle rollover simulator to show kids and adults what happens to occupants in a rollover crash when they don’t wear their seatbelts.
Crime Stoppers along with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office will be present with there impaired vision goggles and McGruff the Crime-fighting dog.
The Walton County Prevention Coalition will be providing a booth with Tobacco Prevention Information, free goodies for kids and adults that stop by, information on Underage Drinking and other drugs, and their scary lungs display
The Walton County Health Department will be covering Environmental Health, Bag Lunch Safety, Nutrition, Tobacco Prevention and much more.
Wal-Mart Vision Center will be doing free Vision Screenings and will have some cool handouts.
Robert Nelson of I Fix Computers will be speaking to parents and children about internet safety covering different ways to keep internet usage safe and appropriate.
The Walton County Library will be giving out information on their Summer program as well as speaking about the importance of reading. They will also have some handouts and books to give away.
The Walton County Extension will be bringing important information about 4-H, healthy choices and much more.
The Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts of America will have information on registration and summer activities.
The Boys and Girls Club of DeFuniak will have information on their Summer Program and year round activities.
OWC will be on site to offer information and assistance about course registration, adult education classes, distance learning, Even Start, and new opportunities. They will also have applications and brochures.
Americorps will be present opportunities and to share information about the many different aspects of Americorps. To include disaster preparedness, response, community projects, public safety, tutoring, etc...
